Shakespeare Competition

Most people are deathly afraid of the language of Shakespeare. It literally intimidates them. Our Advanced Drama class attended the Utah Shakespearean Festival High School Competition this last weekend. It was a BLAST! In our overall Stratford Division, our school placed 4th out of 16: which is great considering that we beat 2 of the Freshman private schools that specifically specialize in the Fine Arts. As well as our Ensemble scene, our class had 3 monologs and 2 duo trios (one of which I competed in) that represented our school.
Although we didn’t place, our scores were still in our satisfactory range.
Spending time at SUU was so much fun! My roomies, (and group) included my friends: Kaelis, Mallory, Krysti and me. We spent the whole time together meeting new friends, reuniting with old ones, watching the students at the University, watching performances, and eating. LOTS and LOTS of eating. I’ll have to say that those were my favorite parts of the day, was the eating ones. There were several resturant places and convienince stores that we went to throughout the day. And yes, now I have to confess:
I’ve been to Starbucks.
But only to get really yummy hot chocolate…….. except for it tasted walnutty ……
The hot chocolate was definitely a must on Saturday: It rained the whole day long. So running from building to building got you and your hair and your clothes all wet and cold.
Our competition was good. We got better scores that the other duo scene from our school… does that say something? (I know, I’m just amazing like that) Ha.
We arrived home at 1 am on Sunday morning, our dead tired parents picked us up, but although we were sleepy, we were satisfied with our scores. (I mean 4th out of 16? What is this?)
